Celebrating Three Years of Svarini
Three years ago, Víya had the pleasure of crossing paths with Sheel Yerneni (@artzysheel), the founder of Svarini (@svarini.shop). At the time, Svarini was only in it's first year but even then, Sheel’s vision carried a quiet conviction that was impossible to overlook. There was such clear intentionality behind what she was building, and a collaboration felt natural from the start.
While planning a photoshoot, we wanted to find a way to style our models alongside our jewelry that felt authentic to us, not simply following what everyone else was doing. We were drawn to Svarini because it reflected something we deeply connected with: the desire to create outside of expectations and tell stories through design that feel personal, intentional, and true to who we are.
Old Roots, New Perspectives
Although Víya and Svarini exist in different creative spaces, our foundations are remarkably similar. Both brands were born from a desire to explore identity through our work—to take inspiration from our South Asian roots while also embracing the experiences that shaped us as young Indian-Americans growing up in the United States. We aren’t simply looking backward; we’re building something new. Through jewelry and fashion, we’re creating our own interpretations of culture, blending tradition with the perspectives, influences, and communities that have shaped our lives.
Even our names reflect the connection between our brands. Both Víya and Svarini are derived from Sanskrit, with meanings that speak to the values behind what we create. Víya, a loose translation of “a light breeze,” represents our desire to bring a sense of peace and ease into the often stressful world of diamonds and fine jewelry—creating an experience that feels more personal, transparent, and intentional. Svarini, inspired by the Sanskrit word Svairini, carries forward a new meaning of an “empowered woman,” reflecting confidence, independence, and the freedom to express oneself unapologetically.
Hearing Sheel speak about Svarini in those early days was deeply inspiring. Her mission was rooted in more than fashion—it was about challenging traditional expectations of what South Asian identity looks like—embracing heritage while creating space for women to take up room, be seen, and define themselves on their own terms. Every detail carried intention, from fabric choices to silhouettes, all grounded in a desire to bridge cultural influences with contemporary storytelling.
That same mindset has always been at the heart of Víya. From the beginning, we’ve believed in questioning conventions and creating pieces that reflect the people behind them. For both brands, the goal has never been to simply recreate what already exists—it’s about taking what inspires us and transforming it into something that feels distinctly our own.

Svarini X Kaho Present: RECLAMATION
Fast forward three years, and witnessing Svarini's evolution has been nothing short of remarkable. We recently had the opportunity to attend Svarini's Reclamation Fashion Show, a celebration marking the brand's third anniversary and the two-year anniversary of Sheel's film, Moksha. More than a runway presentation, the evening brought together a collective of South Asian creatives, each contributing to a larger narrative of identity, artistry, and self-expression.
Lucky for us, we had a front row seat to the unveiling of Svarini's newest designs. Each piece reflected how the brand has evolved over the past three years—more refined, more confident, and still deeply rooted in the values that have defined it from the beginning. Our favorite look was a custom bridal gown featuring a beadwork portrait of the couple across the back of the train. It was a beautiful reminder that fashion, much like fine jewelry, can become a deeply personal keepsake—capturing the people and stories that matter most.
The event left us feeling inspired, not just because of the growth of Svarini as a brand, but the community it continues to cultivate. From the very beginning, both Víya and Svarini have believed that creativity is strengthened through connection. Our journeys have been shaped by the people who support us—friends, family, collaborators, and fellow creatives who believe in what we’re building.
Even our first photoshoot together reflected that spirit. Sheel brought her best friend along to be part of the creative process, a small but meaningful reminder that the people around us are an important part of the stories we tell. At Víya, we’ve experienced that same support from the people who have stood beside us throughout our journey, and it’s something we continue to value deeply.
We’re proud to have witnessed even a small part of that evolution and grateful to share a similar belief: that the most meaningful designs come from embracing where we come from, recognizing what has shaped us, and having the courage to do things differently.
